Used Camper Vans – Special Features To Look For
While used camper vans aren’t for everyone, with the abundance of features installed in today’s campers, chances are they are for most people if nothing else. There are features to suit every whim or personality type under the sun, from entertainment to safety installations. The first thing to think about when comparing different camper vans is of course the price and size of the van itself. If you are travelling alone or with one other person, chances are you will need one at the smaller end of the spectrum. This has the advantage of being easier to manoeuvre and park.
For large families, however, or roving groups of friends, there are used camper vans that can accommodate 10 or 12 passengers, in some cases, with some modicum of comfort. These will usually be a little bit pricier, of course, but are well worth it in the long run for that extra leg room and attention to detail. To hold so many passengers with comfort, they will include features such as furniture that folds up when not being used, and many different hidden cabinets that can give a somewhat clandestine feel to luggage.
Entertainment features are another item to think about when looking at different used camper vans and trying to make a decision regarding which one is best for you. Some of the older models will have no more than a radio or CD player, which for some groups of people is fine. Those who have smaller children or teenagers will probably find themselves under the stresses of having a more modern and up to date entertainment system, however, to help stave off boredom. Be sure in either case to bring your own supply of good books and new magazines to read.
Safety features, at all costs, should be the first thing that one looks at inside of used camper vans, however. Make sure there are enough seatbelts for everyone that will be travelling inside and that there is ample cushioning and airbags in the event of a crash. Keep a first aid kit on hand. This is often included in many vans, so ask about it and if it has been restocked for the next set of passengers. It can be helpful to make a laundry list of all the different things you are looking for in your vehicle that you can take with you to the dealership, to help narrow down your options.
